To the anon asking about her live performances: live performances to me always displays an artist's true talents b/c it's them, a mic, and a band, no coverups (well maybe today w/prerecorded tracks), so it's do or die. Whitney always made her live performances better than the original recordings. It made them more interesting too. I'm sure she was aware that her fans would like to hear greatness that they paid good money for as opposed to songs sang the exact same way on the recorded track.

Serious question. How was it that Whitney's live performances usually upstaged the studio recordings because with most artists, it's most times the reverse. I was watching a lot of her live showings on YouTube and I was so moved but how come she didn't record the songs like that?
